Introduction

If you choose the Cash Payment method when buying Bitcoins or other virtual currencies, you will be able to hand over cash in over 28,000 locations in the UK and you will receive your Bitcoins within minutes of the cash being accepted. These locations are typically small supermarkets and corner stores. You will essentially be paying a bill, just like a gas or electricity bill, but you will instead receive Bitcoins.

ID requirements

In order to use the cash payment option, you need to have uploaded your identification documentation using the Profile page. ID is usually verified within 24 hours of upload.

Step by step guide

Step 1 - Fill in your payment information

Here, you simply copy and paste your Bitcoin address into the top box and type in how many Bitcoins you want into the second box. Make sure you select Cash payment as the payment method.

The number of Bitcoins you can buy at any time is limited by our calculation algorithm and you must buy a minimum of £10 and a maximum of £300.

Click Get some coins when you are ready.

Step 2 - Choose your shop

You are presented with a map showing the locations nearest to you, based on the address we have on file. You can search for a new address by typing it into the box, or if you can click Find current location to find the nearest locations to you automatically. This is particularly useful if you are on a mobile device as your web browser will request access to a GPS if present.

Step 3 - See shop details

When you click on one of the locations, you will see further information such as the shop name, address and telephone number. If you are happy with this choice, click Choose this one.

Step 4 - Confirm shop details

You are now presented with a confirmation dialogue. Only if you are ready to immediately go to the shop should you click I am ready to pay.

Step 5 - Download the payment slip

A payment slip has now been generated to you and can be seen by clicking on the blue payment slip link. It will also have been emailed to you.

You can print off this payment slip or show it to the cashier on a mobile device. If you do the latter, the barcode must be visible and large enough in order for the cashier to scan.

Once you have the payment slip ready, go to the shop. If you cannot get there within the two hours allocated, please cancel the trade.

When you arrive at the shop, ask the cashier if you can pay a bill. They will ask to see the payment slip and will ask for your cash. The payment slip will then be automatically verified by Bittylicious and accepted.

Step 6 - Pay and get your receipt

The cashier will print out a receipt and give it to you. This is your proof of purchase and should be kept safely.

Step 7 - Receive the Bitcoins

Before you even leave the shop, the trade page will show that the payment is being made and will then show that payment is complete. You will receive a transaction reference for the Bitcoin payment within one minute.
