Bittylicious is registered as a Designated Business with the Isle of Man's Financial Services Authority. As such, it has certain responsibilities with regard to customer data retention which may not apply to companies operating in other industries.

According to paragraph 33 of the [https://www.gov.im/media/470621/anti-moneylaunderingandcounteringthefinancingofterrorismcode2015.pdf Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism Code 2015], Bittylicious is required to store user data for at least 5 years even after accounts are marked as deleted:

The legislation does not specify a maximum number of years for data retention. This being the case, and following common industry practice, Bittylicious retains data for 5 years from the date of deletion.

When the account is marked as deleted, we set a flag meaning the account can no longer be registered again. After 5 years, any sort of identifiable data, including uploaded data, will be automatically deleted.

==GDPR Article 17 Right To Erasure==

The Isle of Man is not a member of the European Union. Even though Isle of Man legislation specifically introduced the GDPR into law, the GDPR itself specifically allows for instances where Article 17 (right to erasure) conflicts with other legislation, even in member states.

In the case of Bittylicious, Isle of Man legislation is the only applicable law, namely the [https://www.gov.im/media/470621/anti-moneylaunderingandcounteringthefinancingofterrorismcode2015.pdf Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism Code 2015], as described above.

Bittylicious therefore not only has the right, but has an explicit duty under Isle of Man law, to retain these records for longer than companies which are not registered as a Designated Business might. It is unfortunate that the legislation does not explicitly set an upper limit of years for record retention. This being the case, Bittylicious follows common industry practice and retains records for 5 years, enabling it to comply fully with its anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing duties as a Designated Business.

==Verification based limits==

Regulations mean that for purchases of any size, all users need to have gone through the full ID validation process. There's a list of the types of documents we can accept for that on our [[Accepted_forms_of_ID|accepted forms of ID]] page

==IP based limits==

You should connect from a computer based in the country you are buying Bitcoins from. For example, if you are trying to buy Bitcoins using a UK bank account, please connect from the UK. If you are abroad or otherwise need an exception, please verify your ID and then contact us at [mailto:support@bittylicious.com support@bittylicious.com].

If your IP address and country you're purchasing from don't match, your limits will be reduced. If you attempt to buy from an anonymous proxy, your purchase attempt will be declined.

Your limits will also be significantly lower if you are using a mobile data connection.

==Account age limit==

Long term users are generally trusted more, so your overall purchasing limits increase with account age. As the age of your account increases since your first significant purchase, so will your limits.

==Ongoing limits==

Ongoing limits apply, and are subject to change at short notice. For example in some situations, once twelve hours have passed since your last purchase, half of that amount might be purchased again. Once 48 hours have passed, the entire amount might be purchased again. In this case, if your limit was 1 BTC and you bought 1 BTC at midnight, at noon you would be able to buy another 0.5 BTC, or after 48 hours you would be able to buy a further 1 BTC.

Additionally, your spending limits are increased significantly when ID is validated because the account becomes more trusted.

If you will never have the need to do credit/debit card purchases (e.g. bank transfers are fine) then the requirements are a little more flexible. Please see the [[#I do not care about credit card payments]] section below.

All proofs of address must have an issue date within the last 3 months. These can be digital versions in pdf format, i.e. downloaded from your account with the appropriate provider, but screenshots cannot be accepted nor can any edited documents, photos of printouts of the pdf etc. We need the originals.

In all cases we need the entire document. For paper documents this means the entire page rather than just the part with your address on. For PDFs this needs to be the entire original version of the PDF with all subsequent pages.

We can't accept documents which have been 'printed' to another PDF, we'd need the original documents. In the cases of banks such as TSB where the bank does not produce a direct pdf version of a statement sadly we cannot accept printed to pdf versions of statements from these banks. Halifax and Lloyds user can now download PDF versions of statements via online banking, however we can't accept the older style printer friendly printouts.

If you are validating an account for company use, please ensure this is a bill addressed to the company, and ensure your company's name is filled in on the profile page. The address should ideally be your company's registered office.

The following documents are usually acceptable for all payment methods, including card payments.

* Fixed phone line bill.
* Council tax bill (only accepted for 3 months after the issue date)
* TV licence (only accepted for 3 months after the issue date, so if the expiry date is February 2019, it would have been issued in February 2018 so is only valid until May 2018)

This should be a statement, and also issued within the last three months.

We a bank statement which should show your account number, sort code (or BIC/SWIFT and IBAN), your name, address and overall account information like balances. For a paper statement we would need a scan or a photo of the first page of the statement, or an online copy of your statement downloaded from your online banking site. If you send us an online downloaded PDF, it must be totally unaltered. This means you must include the entire file and you cannot send just certain pages, for instance. We also cannot accept screenshots of your online banking pages.

Information about your account is held with the strictest security protocols and policies.

Bittylicious is also a registered as a Data Controller with the [https://www.inforights.im/ Information Commissioner]. This registration is required primarily because of some of the personal information we hold, including any identification documents you may upload. Our reference number is R002897 and you can [https://www.inforights.im/contact-us/ contact] the Information Commissioner to confirm.

We do not sell any of your information to any third parties. We keep all information secure and only will hand over information if required by the laws of the countries in which we operate.

Some of your information, e.g. your real name and email address, are made available to sellers on the Bittylicious system that are directly handling your trade. They are only used for the purpose of completing your specific trade with us and they are not visible to anybody else. =Step 6 - Company details=

The first step in the ''Verification'' pages details basic information about your company. Please fill in the following details:

* '''Business name:''' The full business name according to the official registry.
* '''Registered country:''' The country in which the company is registered. If you click ''Other'', you will be provided with a list of countries outside the United Kingdom.
* '''Company type:''' The company type. Most "limited" companies not on a stock market come under ''Private Limited company''. Please enter the closest company type according to your jurisdiction.
* '''Registration number:''' The unique registration number according to any official registry, e.g. Companies House, Companies Registry, etc. Bittylicious will attempt to auto-detect this if this is a company in England and Wales or Scotland.

You are also welcome to upload a bank account statement. It is recommended to do this if you have one available.

Getting a fully verified account at Bittylicious is very easy and enables you to have higher purchasing limits and get better prices.

Before reading further, please be aware that Bittylicious is technically a marketplace where various sellers offer their Bitcoins for sale. Prices and minimum purchase limits are not set by Bittylicious itself, but by the sellers within Bittylicious.

==Verification based limits==

Bittylicious is designed such that unregistered users can only buy around £50 worth of Bitcoins. As you go through the verification processes, you are able to buy more Bitcoins. The amounts by which your Bitcoins go up regularly changes, but they increase as you:

# Register and verify your email address
# Verify your mobile phone number
# Upload your name and address identification (large increase here)

In certain situations, the amount you can buy might be less than the minimum permitted purchase. If this is the case, you will need to consider doing the above verification steps.

==IP based limits==

You should connect from a computer based in the country you are buying Bitcoins from. For example, if you are trying to buy Bitcoins using a UK bank account, please connect from the UK. If you are abroad or otherwise need an exception, please verify your ID and then contact us at [mailto:support@bittylicious.com support@bittylicious.com].

If your IP address and country you're purchasing from don't match, your limits will be reduced. If you attempt to buy from an anonymous proxy, your purchase attempt will be declined.

Your limits will also be significantly lower if you are using a mobile data connection.

==Account age limit==

Long term users are generally trusted more, so your overall purchasing limits increase with account age. When your account is 3, 7, 14 or 30 days old (since your first significant purchase), we increase your limits.

==Ongoing limits==

Once twelve hours have passed since your last purchase, half of that amount can be purchased again. Once 48 hours have passed, the entire amount can be purchased again. For example, if your limit was 1 BTC and you bought 1 BTC at midnight, at noon you would be able to buy another 0.5 BTC, or after 48 hours you would be able to buy a further 1 BTC.

=HSBC & First Direct Payment Delays=

Customers that bank with HSBC & First direct continuously get a poor service from them. Below are two very frequent occurrences which will almost certainly be the reason for any delay in your payment reaching one of our brokers.

==Making payments after 6pm==

If you make a payment to a non-HSBC account or to a new payee, the online banking will tell you that the payment cannot be made today. If you phoned their customer service department about it they tell you it is because the receiving bank will not accept the payment until the following morning. This information is false as all other banks have no problem sending to each other through the evening.

These payments will be debited from your account around 8am and, subject to fraud checks, arrive at their destination just after 9am.

==Delayed payments==

HSBC and First Direct are very well known for their payment delays and they tend to process payments on the hour.

If you try and call them within 2 hours of making the payment, their customer services department will tell you that faster payments can take up to 2 hours to go through.

If you call up after the two hours has passed, they will tell you that the payment has been processed even if you specifically ask them whether it has been held for fraud and security checks (which happens frequently). They even go so far as to say that the receiving bank must be doing payment checks before releasing the payment to the destination account. If this happens then we would see that the payment had arrived and had been held for checks.

Unfortunately, the reality here is that their staff are poorly trained and the payment will be with their fraud and security team for checks. You can either wait out the delay or you could speak to their fraud and security department directly on 0345 266 9337. Once they have confirmed that it has indeed been held by them, they will process it and state that it will take up to two hours to credit the account. The reality is that it will be between 1-2 hours from when they've told you this. HSBC/First direct tend to only process their payments on/shortly after the hour too.

If this happens to you and they lie to you as above, you have every right to put in a [https://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/contact-and-support/feedback-and-complaints complaint] to them (and the [http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htm Financial Ombudsman]) as its unacceptable behaviour by an established bank like them.

Why do Bitcoins on Bittylicious cost so much?

Before asking this question, you should understand how Bittylicious works.

Bittylicious actually works as a marketplace with many different Bitcoin brokers on the back end. They can each choose their own price and the best one is provided to you, the user. This means that the price shown is the best price that the brokers are willing to trade at. The price is ''not'' controlled by Bittylicious itself and there is no fixed price formula.

Often, the price is a bit more than some of the large exchanges out there, and to do a fair comparison you would need to compare it with GBP sites based in the UK.

There are many costs associated with offering Bitcoins and other virtual currencies to you, the user, on Bittylicious. Compared to the bigger exchanges, the benefits of Bittylicious over a large market include:

# Bittylicious is UK based and follows UK law.
# Bittylicious is priced primarily in British pounds.
# You would need to pay foreign exchange costs to put GBP onto a market (e.g. converting to US Dollars).
# On many markets, there are huge restrictions on withdrawing fiat and large Bitcoin amounts.
# You often need to pay fees to put money onto the exchanges in the first place.

And other costs that brokers have to face include:

# There is fraud in the banking world, meaning brokers sometimes lose money altogether.
# Most banks hate cryptocurrencies, meaning there's the risk of losing bank accounts.
# Banks often charge fees for transactions, especially on business bank accounts.
# Bittylicious itself charges brokers a small fee.

Those costs, including time costs, all add up. We believe Bittylicious offers the easiest way for people to buy Bitcoins and sometimes this can come at a little extra cost.

===Transaction fees===

As well as the costs listed above, the Bitcoin network has a concept of ''transaction fees'', which originally was designed to be a small fee for transactions to be sent and included in a Bitcoin block. Bittylicious uses the recommended fee set by the Bitcoin core client to get a transaction confirmed quickly, although if there are unexpected spikes in network activity or a lack of blocks it can take a little longer. Generally these fees are not particularly high, however at times of extreme load on the network (eg. December 2017) these have however been exceptionally high (~£25) and would always need to be included within the price.
